Violet is 2

My baby girl turned 2 today.

We celebrated Violet's birthday with a party in the park. Once again, we had a joint party with her little friend, Ian, who also recently turned 2. It was so nice to be able to divide up all the shopping, prep, and cooking with my friend Jane. We made cupcakes that looked like Easter baskets and had an Easter egg hunt after lunch. This was probably the least stressful party I've ever planned.

Violet has been singing "Happy Birthday" to herself all week long. It was too windy at the park for her to blow out her candles, but we made sure to correct that situation after dinner tonight. We went out to eat with my parents and Tom's brother and nephew who all came down to celebrate. We made sure we had good luck noodles for long life. When we got back, we lit Violet's candles and sang her "Happy Birthday" again. She blew them out like a pro.

Many of our friends posted birthday wishes for Violet on my Facebook page. My favorite one came from our church's wonderful youth director: "Happy birthday, Violet! So fun watching you grow up... but it's ok if you slow it down a wee bit..."

Exactly.

Happy birthday, my darling baby girl. What a blessing you are. I love you.
