Violet says...

These are just some funny things that Violet has been saying lately.  I'm trying to capture them all before she moves on to something else.

Whenever she does something that she finds particularly enjoyable or comical, she'll say, "That's really fun, isn't it?" or "That's really funny, isn't it?"

Jack has been doing a lot of sulking lately whenever we tell him no.  When it happens in the car, a lot of times Violet will see his sad face and say, "Jack-Jack, what happened?  Did Mommy hurt your feelings?"

When he says yes, she'll sometimes tell me, "Mommy! Be nice to Jack-Jack!  You say sorry to him!"

This has actually been a recurring theme over the last couple of weeks.  She also hates it when I reprimand her in any way.  This is a typical conversation:

Violet: Mommy.
Me: What, Violet?
V: Mommy.
M: What?
V: Mommy.
M: Yes?
V: Mommy.
M, a little testily: Violet! What?
V: You scolded me!  You say sorry to me!

One time, she was doing this as I was trying to negotiate a pretty harrowing stretch of traffic.  I told her, "Violet! Be quiet!"

V: You scolded me!  You say sorry to me!
M: What do you say to me first?
V: Sorry, Mommy!
M: I forgive you.
V: Now you say sorry to me.
M: Sorry, Violet.
V: I 'give you, Mommy.  Mommy scolded me.  I say sorry to Mommy.  Mommy said sorry to me.  I say I give you.

Violet recently slipped on our deck and scraped her elbow.  This has been a repeated topic of conversation ever since, in much the same vein as the car wash story.  It usually starts off with, "I got an owie."

You'd think I'd have learned by now, but I still sometimes forget and think she's talking about a new one.

"You did?" I ask.  "Where?"

"On my elbow.  I slipped on the deck.  I'm really sorry."

She keeps apologizing for having fallen and injuring herself, just like she kept apologizing for being scared of the car wash.

I would love to be able to capture some of these cute conversations on video, but she's so aware of the camera that it's hard to get her doing anything candidly.  Which brings me to another thing that she's been doing lately.  As soon as she knows a photo or video of her has been taken, she demands, "Let me see it!"

I guess writing it all down on this blog will have to do.
