Jack did great on the flight out, even though he wasn't all that interested in all the toys, activities, and DVDs that we brought on board to entertain him. He had fun just running up and down the aisles.
We did the usual touristy things in Kona: hung out on the beach, toured a coffee farm, walked around downtown Kailua-Kona, and took a snorkel cruise. Jack wasn't too sure about the ocean. It was slightly cooler than the 92 degrees he's used to at the pool where he takes swimming lessons, and I think the waves and salt also kind of freaked him out. I'll have to be sure to take him to the beach in San Diego more to get him used to it.
The one thing that marred the trip was that Jack caught a bit of a stomach bug near the end of the week. Maybe it was the Hawaiian version of Montezuma's Revenge (Kamehameha's Revenge?). The flight back to San Diego, while technically shorter than the flight out, felt years longer. Poor baby went through several diapers, was obviously having stomach cramps, and at one point threw up all over me. And I had foolishly neglected to heed the advice of so many other moms and didn't carry on a change of clothes. Oy.
But all in all, we had a great time. Mahalo, Mom and Dad!
