Jack has designated himself my personal fashion consultant.
Clearly subscribing to the old adage, "Men don't make passes at girls who wear glasses," he regularly tells me, "Mommy, take-ah off-ah glass-les." (He's also been trying out his Italian accent.) (And he says "glasses" with an extra "l" in the last syllable.)
He advocates the "less is more" philosophy. This means that cardigans, jackets, robes, blankets, or anything that might keep me warm during the winter are not to be borne - or worn. So to compensate I am building up my internal insulation (SIGH).
The aversion to winter-wear includes socks. Jack thinks it's funny for Mommy to have cold feet. If my feet are cold, he'll touch them to some part of his body and just laugh and laugh. Do I have a future fashion-forward foot fetishist on my hands?
Today, I was wearing a black shirt and he told me, "Mommy, no PJs."
I told him I wasn't wearing PJs - although who doesn't love hearing their outfit looks like sleepwear? - I was wearing a shirt.
"Mommy no wear black shirt," he said.
"What color shirt should I wear?" I asked.
"Mommy wear blue shirt," said my budding Mr. Blackwell.
So I duly went upstairs and changed my top. And what do you know? He was right. The blue shirt did look better.
Pretty soon, he's going to be telling me, "Make it work."

I love this post! Funny and very well-written. Toddlers are so strange and funny. I am so happy you captured both traits in this post. Now---go work it!
LMAO, reading this! So cute!
You seriously need to do some writing for a magazine. You bring new meaning to the silly "lol"s that I see all over the internet. I love you, Janis- you are such a great mom!
