Happy 2011!

We've had a great 2010, and we are looking forward to another wonderful year ahead.

2010 highlights:
  • Of course, the birth of our sweet Violet is the best thing that happened this year. What a blessing and a joy she has been.
  • A close second is witnessing Jack as a big brother. Seeing how much he loves his baby sister makes me love him even more. I am so proud of him.
  • Jack turning four. What a fun age this is. What a great little guy he is turning out to be.
  • Jack starting preschool. He is just flourishing and learning so much, and we couldn't be happier with his teachers and his school.
  • Jack learning how to write. I just think this is so cool.
  • Getting to do the "baby thing" all over again. It's amazing how much we have learned from having gone through it all with Jack. We are much more relaxed this time around and yet still in awe of how different each baby can be.
  • Fun trips to Disneyland, the Bay Area, and camping with our friends.
  • Lots of fun playdates with our friends, with and without kids. :)
  • My new camera. My old faithful Fujifilm FinePix finally bit the dust after seven years of hard use. I'm loving my new Canon Rebel T2i, even though I know I'm not taking advantage of all it has to offer. Even so, the pictures are so much better quality, and it's so fast. I didn't realize it was possible, but I'm taking even more pictures than ever. I just got this camera in July, and I've already taken more than 15,000. Eek!
Things to look forward to:
  • We have some awesome trips planned.
  • Violet crawling and/or walking.
  • Violet sleeping through the night. This will happen this year, right?
  • Jack reading. He's getting close!
  • My mom retiring, and my parents getting one step closer to moving to San Diego.
  • More fun with our family and friends.
Resolutions
  • I pretty much failed miserably at last year's resolution to get my house organized, but I'm feeling a lot more zen about my messy house. That's something... or is it? Regardless, I do want to get better about the housekeeping, especially because I anticipate having a mobile baby sometime in the next few months.
  • Catch up on my photo albums. I'm so proud that I was able to put two years worth of photos in albums last year, including Jack's baby books. If I'm able to keep up that pace, I should hopefully be mostly caught up by this year. Of course, I am making life more difficult for myself by taking so many more pictures with my new camera. But that will make the finished product that much more amazing, right?
  • Catch up on my home videos. I'm kind of dreading this one. I had finished all the ones we had right before Violet was born, but it turned out I burned it to disk using the wrong format. So I have to redo those. Ugh. And then we got a new video camera and a new computer, and I still haven't completely figured either out. But learning something new will be a fun challenge... I think. :)
  • Be grateful.
  • Be kind.
  • Forgive.
Happy New Year, everyone!
