Valentine's Day

One of the fun things about Jack getting older is seeing him start to understand the reason behind different things. This is the first year he's had any idea about Valentine's Day and what sort of things you do to celebrate.

He came home from school one day and said, "On Valentine's Day, we give cards to people we love."

His school had a little celebration, where all the kids exchanged
Valentines. It was super cute. A few days later, a card came in the mail, addressed to Tom and me. It had mailed from Jack at his school. We opened it up in front of him, expecting him to be so excited about giving it to us. Instead, he snatched the card from our hands and gave it to Violet.

"I made her a card, because I love her!" he said.

In addition to his school celebration, we also exchanged cards with our friends at a nearby park. Jack, being Jack, has of course counted them all and lined them all up in his room.

"Twenty-one people love me!" he keeps saying.

On Valentine's Day, Jack presented me with this Valentine that he made himself (with, I'm guessing, a little inspiration from his dad):

On the left, he drew a picture of a sun and a rainbow.

The numbers on the right signify how many months old Jack (51) and Violet (10) are. The "4 1/1" is supposed to be 4 1/4, which is Jack's age in years.

We hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day and got to spend it with people you love.
