That was fast

In what I consider an incredibly short amount of time, Violet has gone from taking a few tentative steps on her own to becoming a full-fledged walker. The entire process took less than two weeks. I feel that yesterday was the first day that I can really say that walking became her primary mode of mobility. We went to a concert in the park, and people who had just seen her days before said, "She wasn't doing that the last time I saw her!"

It just goes to show you how different each child is. I think it took Jack at least a month to really synthesize the walking to a point where I could say that he truly knew how. But he was a couple of months younger than she was when he started. I recall that he fell a lot more often than Violet does at this stage, but she's a pretty cautious girl. She still seems to sort of launch herself at her target destination (usually me), but she gets steadier on her feet and can go farther and farther every day.

I will miss her little spider crawl, but I love how proud of herself she is when she takes a particularly long stroll. My baby girl is now a toddler. I have to keep reminding myself that the only thing sadder than our kids growing up is if they never do.
