The spoonfed and the smears

Jack has fallen in love with spoons. If he sees us with a spoon, whether it's his or ours, he wants to play with it. If he actually gets a hold of one, he won't let go. He'll walk around the house with it in his chubby little fist and bang on things, generally making quite a racket.

Thankfully, one of the benefits of this fascination with flatware is that he's learning to feed himself. He can get most of the contents of a spoon or fork into his mouth without smearing too much of it on his face or shirt. He has a harder time getting stuff on the utensil, but even then he does all right. Of course, if I'm in a hurry or don't want to deal with the mess, it's still easier to feed him myself. But this is just another sign that our baby is growing up.
