Aspirations

We all have things to which we aspire. As I've mentioned before, Violet has been interested in sitting on the potty for several weeks now, but to no productive end. Today, she actually pooped on the toilet for the first time.

She was sitting on the couch, making "the face," as it were. I was sure that a diaper change was in our very near future. She told me, "Poop!" and I asked her if she needed a new diaper. She said yes.

When I brought her up and took off her diaper, I discovered that she actually had not dirtied it, but she indicated that it was still, uh, imminent. I asked her if she wanted to sit on the potty. She said, "Yesss."

I sat her down on the toilet and for the first time ever, she actually pooped on the potty. I was very excited, and she was so proud of herself.

"I did it! Poop! Potty!" she said, beaming.

Jack was also very proud of her.

"Wow, that's really good for a baby her age!" he said admiringly. "I don't think I was only one when *I* first pooped on the potty."

Speaking of aspirations, my friend Amy is currently a finalist in a contest to win a skydiving trip. While I feel a bit like I am contributing to the delinquency of a minor (at least someone more minor than me) by encouraging you to help her jump out of a plane, if you are so inclined, please click on over to her page and vote for her.
