Busy busy

I have a feeling our lives are about to get a whole lot busier.

Today, I attended my first Little League orientation. What in the world have we gotten ourselves into?? Little League is no joke. They still haven't set up our schedule, but it sounds like we can have anywhere between one to three games a week(!!). PLUS practice?? Where are we going to find the time?

This is in addition to Jack's weekly golf and piano lessons. At least golf is close to our house and is a one-hour drop-off lesson that requires no additional practice. Piano lessons are farther from our home, and I am supposed to stay the entire half hour lesson (with Violet) so that I can then run his daily practice sessions at home. Eek.

I have to admit that I haven't been great about making sure that Jack practices his piano every day. But he has only been at it for a month, and he can already play three chords and nearly an entire song using both hands. The curriculum his music teacher follows is different than the way that I was trained to play piano, but she assures me that this method is more akin to learning a language than the classical way. We shall see, but so far so good.

However, the unfortunate thing about these piano lessons is the timing. This particular teacher came highly recommended by a couple of friends whose children she taught, but she had a baby in September and had been on maternity leave when I was ready to have Jack start. By the time her maternity leave ended, Jack had discovered he loved his golf lessons and didn't want to give them up plus he decided that he wanted to sign up for Little League baseball.

I've been worried that having three activities at the same time plus preschool may be too much, but so far he says that both golf and piano are "so fun." I love how Jack is always so engaged and excited about the things that interest him. It makes it hard to stop something when he loves it so much. I hope that he always keeps this enthusiasm and that life and other kids and growing up don't make him too cool to truly enjoy things. We'll see how he does once baseball season starts.
