There is a nasty bug going around. So many of our friends and Jack's classmates have been hit hard with it. There was one day last week that seven out of the 18 kids in Jack's class were absent due to sickness. Even though I had my fingers crossed it would miss us, I was not all that surprised when Jack starting showing signs of a fever.
We are on Day 6 of this bug for him; Violet is on Day 3. He's missed four days of school and his first 5k run over the weekend, which was a big bummer. Jack has actually been fever-free for a couple of days now, but he's had a terribly violent cough that keeps him awake at night. He's also badly congested and exhausted.
Violet also has a bad cough, and the congestion is starting with her. Both have coughed hard enough to make themselves throw up. Violet slept most of the day yesterday, but I think that her fever is finally starting to go away.
When I posted that the kids were sick on Facebook, I had a lot of friends comment, "Poor kids and poor mama!" I have to say, it really hasn't been that bad for me. I do have to wake up in the middle of the night a little more often than I do when they are healthy, but otherwise, I'm kind of liking having both of them home with me. It's just a bummer that this quarantine means that we can't play with friends. But we are finding ways to keep ourselves occupied, and it's nice to have an excuse to be lazy.
That being said, I'll be glad when they are feeling better. I feel so bad for them when they feel yucky, and I'm just praying that I don't get it myself.
