I know I've been simply terrible at keeping this blog up to date. I'm not really sure why, except that I'm usually so tired at the end of the day, it's hard to rub two brain cells together to create anything. Anyway, I just want to record a few funny things about Violet.
She's turning into quite a character. The last few days in particular, she's been pretty mischievous. She likes to bug Jack when they are in their car seats, because she knows she has a captive audience. There is more swatting and booger-wiping than I really find acceptable. Jack generally tries to be pretty patient with her, but he does get exasperated.
Yesterday, they were hanging out with Tom, and apparently Violet was in a hitting, punching, and pinching mood. Poor Jack was her primary victim. She ended up busting up a 100-piece puzzle that he had been working on. Jack duly reported the day's events to me, including that he cried when his puzzle was destroyed. Instead of looking contrite, Violet had her arms wrapped tight around my neck with a big grin on her face and naughty glint in her eye.
Later that evening, I said to Violet, "Did you really break Jack's puzzle?"
"Yes," she answered honestly.
"Was that a good choice?" I asked her.
"No," she said blithely, "that was a bad choice."
Okay. Well, at least she knows.
Today, after a little contretemps with Tom that involved her dumping a full glass of water in protest that it was not juice, she decided she wasn't going to eat the dinner that she had been served. Yet she still kept asking for dessert.
Tom asked her, "Are you going to finish your dinner?"
Violet started singing, "I-I-I-I am not going to eat di-i-i-in-nerrrrr" to the tune of "Darth Vader's Imperial March" from Star Wars.
I have a feeling we have our work cut out for us with that one.
