Happy Fourth of July!

The Fourth of July has always been one of my favorite holidays. I feel so blessed to live in this country. As the first person in my family to be born in the United States, I am well aware of how different my life would be if I had been born and raised somewhere else. And now that I live in a military town in a time of war, it has really hit home to me all the sacrifices that have been made to keep us all safe and free.

We celebrated the holiday with wonderful friends, eating yummy food and having lots of fun. We obviously go to too many birthday parties, because Jack thinks every playdate and party is for someone's birthday. When I told Jack that we were going to a party today, he asked, "Who's birthday is it?" I told him it was America's birthday. I don't think he quite understood.

I'm looking forward to the time when the kiddos are old enough to stay up for fireworks... and to not be scared of the noise. In the meantime, Tom and I had a lovely - if far off - view of the Sea World fireworks from our backyard.

We are blessed indeed!

Happy birthday, America!
