Have you ever had one of those days? Today was one for me.
I don't know if it was me, if it was Jack, if it was the phase of the moon, but I just had the toughest time with him today. His moods were all over the place. One minute he was cute as can be, laughing and smiling and playing, and the next he was shrieking and freaking out over the littlest things. And then he'd go back to sweetness and light like nothing ever happened. It took a bit longer for ME to get over it, though.
At least, I thought, I'll get a break when he naps. He had been napping for two hours pretty consistently the last week, and today we had the added activity of swim lessons and a playdate. He had to be tired, right?? And of all the days I needed the two-hour break, today was it.
Of course, his nap lasted less than an hour.
To top it all off, we have officially started potty training. We bought Jack a Sesame Street toilet seat a couple days ago, and today he actually piddled in the toilet a couple of times. Normally, that would be something I'd be so proud and happy about, but what comes after is just such a big pain.
He likes using the toilet paper, and he wants to keep using it over and over again. Then he refuses to get off the seat. He loves looking at all the Elmos, Cookie Monsters, and Big Birds on it. When he finally does get off, he won't let me put a diaper back on him. This morning, that resulted in a piddle puddle on the bathroom floor. UGH. After he washes his hands, he just wants to play with everything on the counter. Every single stage of the potty process is a fight with him.
At the rate we're going, I'd be happy to keep him in diapers until he needs Depends.
In the meantime, I am having a cocktail and praying for a better day tomorrow.

Hang in there......we have had those same types of days.....hope all goes well with potty training.
Oh my goodness---seriously were Jack-Jack and Kingsley separated at birth? We had a day like that too. We actually had a good day, but it was tempered with completely frustrating moments (conveniently around diaper changes for us). One moment, so cute and talkative and fun---the next moment, a wall of NO's and kicking and general disagreeability (if that's even a word, I guess its not). 2 of Kingsley's diaper changes today took 30 minutes because I was not going to be kicked during them anymore. I wish I could force the potty training on him in those moments.
Hang in there----and, let's see, Charlie shouldn't be waking up for another two hours---so, CHEERS!
Oh Janis, you always have your handsful with Jack Jack!! Look at it this way, at least he is using the potty already!! It took Jakob forever to actually go on it! Hang in there girl! And I am with Kelly on that... Cheers!
Couldn't be my sweet little Jack you are talking about????
hang in their...we have been there too....
I'm having that WEEK, girl! And I don't get the cocktail at the end- fooey!
I face that challenge every time Ry wants to use the potty. Although half the time, he tells me AFTER he poops in his dipe. Usually wants to just go play with the bath toys, which then turns into..."Ryan wants a bath, Mommy!" "Ryan Shower?"...even if he just had one a couple of hours earlier. He wants on the toilet, only to try to pull the entire roll of TP off, then, does nothing, and decides he is done, wants to "wash wash" his hands..(same issue with anything on the countertop), then hightails it out the door and runs around the house forcing me to chase him down to diaper him. His fave thing? Hmmm...diving under a blanket in the buff, and pretending he is going to sleep.
I'll be drinking plenty Sunday night...trying to stay sober until after the party on Sunday! :)
