‘Tis the season...

...to PARTY!

What a fun, crazy weekend we had. It seems like all of Jack's little friends have birthdays around the same time. We had a bunch of birthdays around July, then another in October, and now we're in the midst of another birthday "season." Between those and the holidays, it's a party every weekend around here.

This past weekend, we were invited to seven(!) parties. But we wisely decided to "only" go to four. Unfortunately, three of those four were on Saturday, but one of them was an adults-only cocktail party - yippee!

Saturday morning, we went over to sweet Maya's house for a lovely, mellow pink puppy party. There were pink and blue cupcakes, and of course Jack had to try one of each.

You can tell a child's temperament by the number of breakable curios at tot-level in her parents' house. Maya is clearly an angel, because every flat surface was beautifully decorated with ceramic figurines, and all the stereo equipment was just out in the open, not even behind a door or up high beyond a toddler's reach. Of course, my Johnny Angel took no time at all to show them what life is like at OUR house. I held my breath the entire party, sure I was going to have to write out a big check at the end of it to replace some priceless family heirloom. Needless to say, all our breakable things are either stashed in a closet or put on shelves at least four feet off the ground.

Our second party of the day was to celebrate our friend Joli's second birthday. Jack had a great time at this party too. His favorite part was making his green foam faerie wings.

And his favorite part of the car ride home was pulling all the foam stickers off.

After all that activity, I thought for sure that he'd take a nice nap. But I think we may have pushed it and missed our window. He only napped for about 45 minutes. I was nervous for our poor sitter that evening.

The evening party was for Mommy and Daddy only. Our awesome friend Regan had a cocktail party at her fabulous house in OB to sponsor Feed America. Good food, good drinks, good friends, all for a good cause. What more could you ask for?

Jack did pretty well with the sitter. He went to bed later than I would have hoped, but he also slept in the next day.

On Sunday afternoon, we went to a family Christmas party at our friends', the Biermanns', house. Mitchell was a wonderful host, so generously sharing his toys with all his pals. He is another angel child. His mom had the most adorable ceramic Christmas village on display, and there were no discernible cracks where pieces had to be glued together. And Jack is in love with their doggie.

Thank you so much to all our wonderful friends for letting us share your holidays and birthdays! I'm sorry we weren't able to make it to everyone's party. And we're looking forward to another weekend of celebrating next week!
