Well, I think this is going to be the last post before we welcome the newest member of our family. I started having contractions around 4 AM this morning. I wasn't sure at first if they really were contractions, but they started coming more and more regularly. They're about 8 minutes apart right now. I know it's a little crazy that I'm blogging while I'm in labor, but Jack isn't awake yet and I don't really have much else to do to occupy my time at the moment.
Just yesterday, Jack was asking if baby was going to come that day. When I told him probably not, he started crying. I told him that I hoped she would come tomorrow (meaning today). I guess she took that literally- ooh! 25-second contraction at 7:31 AM - because here we are. I had hoped that she would wait until my parents were here, but I guess I wasn't that specific.
My parents are on their way down as I type. They should be here at about 1 PM. I'm hoping that I can last that long so that we don't have to enlist my neighbors to babysit. I'm nervous how Jack will be when we leave him. Yesterday he was saying that he didn't want either Tom or me to go to the hospital, because he would be "own-wee." He also said that he didn't want to come to the hospital and see us, because he's scared of the hospital. He just may get his wish on that score, because he had a little bit of a fever before he went to bed last night.
I'm nervous and excited and scared about how things are going to go today. So far so good. I got a pretty good night's rest and was actually able to get back to sleep a little bit after the contractions started. Tom is minorly freaking out at the moment, but he's channeling that into some long overdue cleaning. There's nothing like the last minute. :)
Happy Easter, everyone!
Edited to update: It is 3:15 PM, and my contractions have slowed way down and have become more irregular. At around 11 AM, they were regularly seven minutes apart, but now they jump from five to 35 minutes apart. Watch out, boys, this one may be a tease. I just hope she doesn't make a liar out of me (and a loser out of Stacia, the current front-runner in my "when will Violet be born?" pool). My parents have been here for about an hour and a half. Maybe she was just waiting for them to arrive? Ok, Violet, they're here! Come on out!

Ah! We love you and we're thinking about you guys!
If Jack wants to come over and play with "Little Jake" he is welcome any time, day or night.
And a Happy Birthday it is! Welcome to the world Baby Violet. What an amazing birth story---7.2 earthquake to shake things up, Easter, and a marvelous ALL natural birth. It really couldn't get any better. Sending so much love to you on Violet's second day today. Big ((HUGS)) to big brother Jack (and to you and Tom too). CONGRATULATIONS!
Hoooooray! I'm so glad Violet listened to her mommy- that bodes well for her future (and yours). I can't wait to meet her!
