We celebrated Halloween all week long. The week started off with Jack's birthday party, which was also a costume party. Cheapskate that I am, I dressed up Jack up in the lion costume he wore last year. It's big enough that I think I'll be able to even put him in it next year, if he doesn't balk. At least I'm getting my money's worth!
On Thursday, we went to a Halloween party with another mom friend and her two kids. Jack didn't want to get out of his PJs all day, so I didn't even bother trying to get him into his costume. Luckily, his pajamas that day were a dark blue coverall, so I had him hold a purple crayon and made him go as Harold. We did a couple of crafts at the party, including these:
We spent the morning at Sea World's Spooktacular with Jack's pals, Miguel and Shane. Jack did let me dress him up in his lion outfit, but he wouldn't put on the headpiece. It was hot at Sea World, but the boys had a great time playing at the Bay of Play. The highlight was the "Countdown to Halloween" Sesame Street show, which featured the Count, Elmo, Zoe, Telly, and Abby Cadabby.
That evening, we went trick-or-treating around the block with Jack's little neighbor friend, Ryan. It was, incidentally, last Halloween that we met Ryan, when he and his daddy came trick-or-treating at our house. This year was Jack's first time, since he was sick last year. He loved it. And he actually wore the head part of his costume almost the entire time! His favorite part was ringing the doorbells. He still doesn't know how to say, "Trick or treat!" but he got a ton of candy anyway. I think we're going to send most of it to work with Daddy.
