Jumpin' Jack flash

The only good thing about our friends, Mandi and Skylar, moving away is that we got their old trampoline. Jack likes it, but it hasn't occupied his time the way I had hoped it would. I had visions of him jumping in it by himself for hours, while I folded laundry, checked e-mail, or read a book. Hah.

Jack really likes to bounce when one of two conditions is met. He won't usually get in at any other time. The first is when he has a friend over. Maybe he's a ham and just wants an audience, or maybe his is a trampoline built for two, but Jack thinks it's hilarious to jump when we have company over. He loves it when his pals get in the trampoline and jump with him. He laughs and laughs; it's so cute.

The other time he likes to be in the trampoline is right before bed. Of course. It's definitely a stalling tactic. Sometimes he'll say, "Hand! Hand!" or "In! In!" which means that he wants either Tom or me to get in, hold his hands, and jump with him. We'll do that for a while, and then all of a sudden, he'll say, "Bye-bye!" and give a dismissive wave to indicate to us that we must immediately vacate the trampoline. Usually right after we get out, he'll say, "Hand! Hand!" to get us to come back in again. And the cycle repeats.

Timeout tally: Only one today! Yay!
