One of Jack's favorite things is when Tom plays guitar for him. Before he became an Elmo junkie, that's all he wanted. "Dar! Dar!" (Jack-ese for "guitar") or "Dede! Dede!" (Jack-ese of "ukulele") or "EIEIO!" (for "Old MacDonald") was all I would hear all day long.
Over the past several weeks, Tom's been rehearsing to play in a church concert, which was held yesterday to raise funds for a new organ. I was so excited for Jack to see his daddy play guitar, because I thought he would love it. I knew he wouldn't sit quietly throughout the show, but I thought he'd sing and dance a little and have a good time.
That is so far from what happened.
Two minutes after the concert started, Jack just wanted to run up and down the aisle. When I tried to get him to stay by me, he started screaming, "Nurse! Nurse! Booby! Booby!" When I brought him out to the lobby, he started yelling, "Bathroom! Bathroom!" I could tell other people were getting annoyed.
Every time I would try to catch part of the show, Jack would run off or start shrieking, "Bathroom!" or "Outside!" or "Booby!" It was a nightmare.
Thank goodness my sister was down for a visit. She watched him for most of the second half of the show so that I could at least see part of it.

Aww Janis, at least you got to catch the second half of the show!
OK, this really does sound horrifying. But, I am sorry, it made me laugh---but I am laughing in a very knowing sort of way.
Just think of all the great stories you have (already---Jack-Jack's not even 2 yet!) for Jack-Jack's first date/prom/wedding. Ha ha.
Did you get to see Tom play? How did he do?
Funny story! That is how these little people work. Gotta love it!
