Jack has been learning words at a pretty rapid clip these last several months, but his enunciation and pronunciation need work. This is mildly concerning for me, because I'm told that I mumble and that people often find it tough to understand me. (For the record, I'm perfectly intelligible to my own ears. I suppose this makes it doubly hard for me to know when I am in fact mumbling or talking too quickly. I'm not trying to be difficult, Mom. :) )
Anyway, back to the main attraction: Jack frequently interchanges his b's and d's, as well as his m's and n's. He "d's" and "t's" a lot of his consonants, which sometimes makes understanding him a challenge - to his supreme frustration. It's perplexing the words that he pronounces perfectly and the ones he can't. I've been playing a game with him lately, where I call him "boo boo baby." He repeats it, but he says it like, "Boo boo dee dee." So it's not that he can't say b's (or d's, m's, n's, etc.); he just doesn't for some words.
I can't wait until I can understand more of what he's saying, but for now, it's cute and funny seeing him try to figure out this whole talking thing. Toddler-ese really is pretty adorable. Even though I long for the day he finally calls me "Mommy," I know I'll also miss being called "Nanny," because it is something uniquely Baby Jack-Jack.
