Food, friends, fun, football, faux turkey - sounds like Thanksgiving to me!
We had a mellow holiday this year. We had a delicious meal of too much food (see above) with good friends and football playing in the background. Our contribution was the mashed potatoes, a mushroom gravy, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pies and whipped cream, and a vegetarian turkey. And this year, our faux turkey was not Tofurky. We decided to try a vegan roast sold at Whole Foods that is molded to actually look like a turkey. The non-vegetarians in the group who tried it said that it tasted a lot like the real thing. (Maybe I'm used to it, but I personally prefer the Tofurky. I find that Tom and I are two of the few people who actually like it.)
Of course, Jack's favorite part was the pie and whipped cream.
We tried to get Jack to say "Happy Thanksgiving" all day long. Even though he could say "Thanksgiving" pretty well on its own, to him, anything "happy" still means "Happy Birthday." So he combined the "Th" from "Thanksgiving" with "Birthday," and his "Happy Thanksgiving" came out sounding like "Happy Thursday."
Happy Thursday, everyone! We're thankful to have you all in our lives.

Glad everything turned out good and that you had a good Thanksgiving.
How was the vegetarian turkey?
The veg turkey was pretty good. It's been so long since I've had the real thing, it's hard for me to compare. The texture seemed pretty realistic, but the taste was a tiny bit too sweet for me. Especially compared to the super-salty Tofurky that we're used to. It's expensive enough that we wouldn't get it for an everyday meal, but we might get it again next year.
