Mule

Jack is showing a stubborn streak. He's never been great about saying "please" and "thank you," but he would usually at least say "please" when prompted. The past couple of days, however, he's been steadfastly refusing to say either at all. When he demands something, we say, "Can you say please?" He has been answering back, "Yeah."

We say, "Please say it then."

"Yeah."

"Jack, please say please."

"Yeah!"

Often, this is said in the same "Duh!" tone you hear from a teenager.

So we don't give him whatever he's asking for, which results in a complete meltdown temper tantrum. It seems like it should be so easy for him to just say "please," but he absolutely will not do it.

Lather, rinse, repeat the above re: "thank you."

And then this afternoon, Jack shoved his friend. After his timeout, I told him to say, "Sorry."

Jack's response?

"Yeah."

Oh boy! I can't wait until Anna is doing that. Today as I put her down for her nap I said, "Do you want to go see your bears?" She looked at me and said, "NnnnnnO!" Oh well. She took her nap anyway...
